INTRODUCTION: 1. Accu-Stix is a test strip used for semi-quantitative estimation of Glucose & Protein in urine. 2. Accu-Stix is a disposable ready-to-use plastic strip on which are affixed 2 reagent areas for testing. 3. The principle used in estimating urine Glucose is Glucose oxidase/peroxidase and urine protein is protein-error-of-indicator. 4. Accu-Stix reagent areas when dipped in urine sample provide semi-quantitative results within 30 seconds. 5. The Accu-Stix test strips are packed in an air tight plastic bottle containing a desiccant. STORAGE: Accu-Stix is for in vitro diagnostic use. It should be stored at room temperature under 35 deg. C. Do not refrigerate. The product should not be used after the expiration date. PROCEDURE: This procedure must be followed exactly to achieve reliable results. 1. Collect fresh, well-mixed, uncentrifuged urine in a clean and dry container. 2. Remove one strip from the bottle and replace cap immediately. 3. Dip the areas into the urine for 1 to 2 seconds. While removing the Accu-Stix from urine run the edge along the containers wall and tap to remove excess urine from the strip. 4. Match the reagents areas near the appropriate color chart provided on the bottle label. The protein results can be read immediately. The glucose results should be read at 30 seconds. The color charts should be matched under good light but not sunlight. EXPECTED VALUES: GLUCOSE: Normally no glucose is detectable in the urine, although a minute amount is excreted by the normal kidney. A slight green color which is less than Trace color block is insignificant. PROTEIN: Normally no protein is detectable in the urine although a minute amount is excreted by the normal kidney. A slight green color which is less than Trace color block is insignificant.
