• SELF LUBRICATING : Self-lubricating nylon provides better wear resistance, higher strength, better dimensional stability, a lower coefficient of friction, and a longer service life. It is perfect for situations where the use of conventional lubricant could be dangerous or ill advised.
• IMPACT RESISTANCE : Nylon is a flexible, durable plastic with less strength and stiffness than both PLA and ABS. Its malleability lends it much more toughness than the other two, however, with an impact resistance ten times that of ABS.
• HIGH SERVICE TEMPERATURE : Nylon is classified as a - ?thermoplastic - (as opposed to - ?thermoset - ) material, which refers to the way the plastic responds to heat. Thermoplastic materials become liquid at their melting point - a very high 220 degrees Celsius in the case of Nylon.
• ABRASION RESISTANCE : Nylon is exceptionally strong, even stronger than polyester. Nylon and polyester are both abrasion resistant and resistant to damage from most chemicals. Nylon is also resistant to oil.
• DIMENSIONAL STABILITY : The higher level of crystallinity leads to faster set up and, hence, faster inj ecti on -molding, cycles, up to 30% faster than for 6/6. Nylon 4/6 absorbs more water than nylon; however, its dimensional stability is similar to nylon 6/6 due to its high crystallinity.
